"Oh." Icepaw tilted her head in confusion "So your names Just Bell... Not Bellpaw or anything like that?" Icepaw flicked her tail back and forth as she watched the kitty pet with wonder.

[Bell]

Bell recoiled, not aggressive, but scared. A comment lay in her mouth, but she didn't want to use it. Bell breathed in and stepped forward. "No, just Bell," Bell didn't say anything else. Now would be the good chance to use it! the bad side of her said. The good side replied, But my tone sounded as if it were alright! Bell wanted to hiss and tell herself to shut up, but alas! The move would make her seem weird and she would not understand how these forest cats live.

[Tendrilflare]

"Here, let me explain. Our names change depending on what position you hold in the clan." Tendrilflare explained."Kits are named something-kit. Like I was named Tendrilkit, and that was Icekit. Then, when you turn six moons old, you become an apprentice. then your name changes to something-paw. Like Tendrilpaw or Icepaw. And then, when you become a warrior, paw changes to something your leader chooses, something that has to do with you personality, or you appearance, or whatever. Like Tendrilflare. That's my warrior name, see? And then if you become leader, you name changes to something-star. And as for the clan, the first cats who went into the forest each made their own groups, their own clans that they led. And now every forest cat is born into a clan. And then all clans follow something called the warrior code, which is a list of rules for us, such as: Each clan has a leader, a deputy and a medecine cat. Each clan has its own territory. You can't mate with a cat from another clan. And there are many more rules. There are three clans, Stormclan, Dawnclan and Ashclan. I'm a queen in Stormclan. Icepaw is a dawnclan apprentice. And that's about it, I guess. Starclan knows there's more I could tell you, but I think that's enough for you." Tendrilflare sat down and took a deep breath. Wow, she had just explained a lot. She looked at Icepaw questioningly to see if everything she said had been correct, and then at Bell to see how the kittypet was taking this flood of information.

[Bell]

Bell frowned. "That's complicated. Why are you called 'Tendril'," she nodded to the older cat. "And why are you called 'Ice'?" Bell looked at the other cat. That was the one thing Tendrilflare didn't explain. That was a lot to remember. But it wasn't enough.

[Tendrilflare]

Tendrilflare frowned. "I guess I was called Tendrilkit because my mother thought that the design on my fur looked like a tendril of smoke..." Tendrilflare twisted around and looked at the smokey pattern on her fur thoughtfully. "I don't know why Icefang was named Icekit...Why were you named Icekit?" Tendrilflare looked into Icepaw's dark brown eyes thoughtfully.

[Icefang]

Icepaw looked up at Tendrilflare with big shining blue eyes "I think It must be because my eyes are the color of Ice." Icepaw meowed happily.

[Tendrilflare]

"Oh, of course." Tendrilflare internally face-pawed. How could she have forgotten Icepaw's gorgeous blue eyes? "So, that's that." Tendrilflare looked at Bell. "Can you tell us about your life as a kittypet?" she asked curiously.

[Bell]

Bell nodded. "Sure, but it doesn't sound as exciting as your one," Bell purred at her own joke. "I eat, I sleep, I get petted and I live." She looked at the two cats. Obviously it wasn't as exciting as their story, but it might be different.

[Tendrilflare]

"You get petted?" Tendrilflare asked, shocked. "What does that mean? Who pets you? Your twolegs? You let them touch you?!" Tendrilflare nearly sat down in surprise. How could anyone let twolegs touch them? Who would do that? Wasn't that a safety hazard or something? Tendrilflare wouldn't even let twolegs near her, much less let them touch her, if she was a kittypet. Were kittypets crazy? Did they have some kind of death wish? Was it even safe to talk to a cat like that? Then she blinked. Now she was sounding crazy. Bell didn't seem insane...maybe she'd have a good answer as TO WHY IN STARCLANS NAME HER TWOLEGS WERE TOUCHING HER.

[Bell]

Bell told the cats what it meant. "Being petted is when my folk pat me. It feels nice."

[Tendrilflare]

Tendrilflare actually sat down in shock. She stared open mouthed at Bell. "Your twolegs.....touch you....and it....feels.....nice?!?!?!??! See, that right there is something I like to call a safety hazard." She mewed glaring at Bell. "How do you know your twolegs won't just whisk you away if you let them get close enough to touch you? And it feels nice?!?!? That's no reason at all to do something that dangerous. I like swimming; swimming feels nice; I wouldn't do it in a STORM, would I, now!" Tendrilflare's maternal instincts were kicking in as she scolded Bell repeatedly. It simply was not safe for the inoccent kittypet to do that!

[Bell]

Bell recoiled slightly in shock. "Uhh.. why would my folk take me away?" she asked quietly, "I have a collar, they'd bring me back here,"

[Tendrilflare]

"They're TWOLEGS. You never know what they could do to you." Tendrilflare said pessimistically. "You can't trust them. Not ever. They might pet you one day, and the next,BOOM, they're bored of you and they send you away somewhere." Tendrilflare looked at the kittypet darkly. Surely this crazy cat must understand at least that!

[Bell]

Bell didn't get it. "But if they would send me away, why would they get me?" she tilted her head. What was so wrong about folk? Why didn't Tendrilflare understand? What about Icepaw?

[Tendrilflare]

"I don't know! I don't understand twoleg motives! But....but...they might!" Tendrilflare stuttered confusedly. "Do you like your twolegs?!?! What do you eat there? Do your twolegs like you? Do you like your life? Have you ever gone into the forest?" Tendrillfare fired question after question at the strange kittypet, wondering how she would answer all of them.
