The apprentice heard Otternose's warning too late. A dip appeared in the earth infront of her. Her paws slid. She felt herself splash into the river, and her black head ducked under the water. Pushing her head above the water, she coughed and tried to swim. "Otternose!" she shouted, struggling to stay above water. Nightpaw couldn't swim.
"Nightpaw!" he shouted as she stumbled down the hill and into the rushing tides. Without anytime to think, the brown warrior flashed past the dip in the hill and darted down the hill and into the rapids. The water was still frigid from the harsh Leafbare which caused a shock to erupt into his system as he went under the current. He tried to reach the surface but the rapids were too strong pushing him down. With instinct, the Warrior swam to the bottom of the river and pounced up with his hind legs. with a few moments he was up at the surface gasping for air. "Nightpaw!" he cried frantically looking around for a black pelt.
The black she-cat surfaced again and coughed up a lungful of water, shrivering in her pelt. "Otternose!" she shouted again, her voice still muffled by water. Her medium-length fur was sodden and clung to her sides. It was weighing her down. Her head ducked beneath the surface again, only to resurface a moment later. She heard her mentor shout her name. "Otternose!" she shouted again, her voice weak. She coughed again and felt dizzy. Stormy blue eyes were dark with fear. Her paws were churning beneath the water, working desperately to keep her head above water.
The brown tom is an exception an swimmer in terms of speed. However, he can't keep up his endurance for long. If he wanted both him and Nightpaw to make it out of the tides, he needed to get his footing soon. After tossing clumsily in the waves for many moments, he was finally able to find a good current to ride. "Keep your head up, Nightpaw! It's like walking." he began to storm towards his apprentice with enormous speed.
The apprentice pushed harder with her paws. I doing that, she thought dully. Her legs were tired and her head was hurting. Her fur was keeping her warm, but was also weighing her down, making it difficult to keep above water. She couldn't be bothered to shout. She could see Otternose swimming towards, riding the current. She felt her legs weakning more, and it was getting harder and harder to keep her paws and limbs moving. She could almost feel herself drifting towards unconsiousness...
Otternose could tell that the apprentice was beginning to become fatigued so he began to push even harder. When he grabbed the apprentice's scruff, the tide seemed to surge harder pulling the two cats under the current again.
The black apprentice jolted back to reality as a slap of water hit her face and teeth bit down on her scruff. She felt her body being dragged under the water, and she tried her best to help Otternose, who was still holding onto her fur. Her head surfaced and she took a lungful of air.
Otternose had trouble taking in a deep breath as he had to hang on to the black she-cat. When he opened up his icy blue eyes, he noticed the river bank a couple of tail-lengths away and began to swim towards it. With all of his strength he could summon, he managed to pull himself to the edge of the bank before another current grabbed him.
OOC: I don't really clarify if Nightpaw is dragged with him or if Otternose put her in a position to where she can get up out of the bank. That's up to you. Also, unknowingly to either of them, they have mound up on the AshClan side of the river.
The she-cat dragged herself onto the riverbank, breathing heavily. A flash of brown fur caught her attension and she stared helplessly into the water. "Otternose!" she shouted, eyes wide as her mentor was pulled away by the current. She wanted to jump in and save him, but she couldn't swim. She would end up killing herself, and that was certainly no help for Otternose.
There was a sudden flash of wind behind the apprentice as a cat long brown fur and heavy tortoiseshell markings on her back zipped past the black she-cat. She was carrying part of a branch in her muzzle as she ran alongside the river. The brown tabby had gone under the surface but maybe she'd be able to pull him in if he came back up.
Otternose regained his strength and resurfaced once again in the tides. He noticed a small figure to the side of him with a long... stick? His vision was beginning to go and he knew he couldn't withstand much more of this current. Dazed, he grabbed the wood with his muzzle before he was taken back down into the tides.
The black apprentice blinked. Out of nowhere came a cat with a stick, holding it out for Otternose, who grabbed it. Nightpaw could think of only one thing to do. She shot off, sprinting alongside the she-cat. Pushing herself harder, the apprentice planted herself running infront of the other cat, feeling strength flowing throguh her. Running had always given her strength.
Nightstar perked up her ears and ran onto the scene. She saw Wolfheart and the apprentice and Otternose. She ran towards the branch and hopped onto it. She carefully padded towards the end of the branch and grabbed the small black cat's scruff "Yur schafe naow" She said through the fur and lifted her back onto land.
~94% of people think that wolves are vicious, evil animals. Copy and paste this into your signature if you're one of the 6% who love wolves and think they are beautiful amazing creatures.
The small tortoishell tobled over as the weight as lifted off the branch. A bit dazed, she laughed and looked at her leader. "a moment later and I would of fell in too!" she meowed. "I'm too short!"
OOC: i won't be on much today because my parents locked the computer. I hate typing on my 3DS...
{OOC: I'm guessing you meant you dragged Otternose out of the water. Nightpaw was running along the shores}
Nightpaw skided to a halt and stared as a cat trotted along the branch. Is she mad! the apprentice thought, glacing at the waters below. She started shrivering again, her fur still soaked through and clinging to her small frame.
Nightstar: Anyone interested in starting this back up?
